New fun

Googlewhack. Find combinations of two words (real - they have to exist on dictionary.com) that return exactly one link on Google.

I thought I got one on my first try - "extemporaneous philanthropism" but philanthropism isn't in the dictionary. Had to work harder for "vermivorous squat"

Some people...

Wednesday, November 17, 2004

The Repubs are apparently taking to heart the lesson that the rules don't apply to them. Or more to the point, they're changing the rules to suit themselves:

The House GOP caucus is likely to vote today to end its rule requiring leaders to step down if indicted, thus shielding Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas) in the event that criminal charges are brought against him in a highly controversial case in Texas.

" Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.) told The Hill that the rule change, first reported by The Hill yesterday, “reflects a reality that [Earle’s investigation is] nothing but a political witch hunt bent on taking him to court. It’s the final phase that Democrats are coming to grips that Republicans are a permanent majority. There’s not any question it’ll pass.”"

"You owe the liberals nothing. They despise you because they despise your Christ."

Helloo? Helloo?

Here I am, blogging at myself. I feel like such a tool.

Fraud?

Well... Probably not.

Turns out the peculiar returns in Ohio were some sort of counting artifact, and were not actually included in the final county-level returns.

And the odd Florida counties are, well, odd florida counties. I mean, it's florida, for god's sake what do you expect?

But they'll have to forgive us for (perhaps) jumping to conclusions. Theirs is not a world driven by honesty and integrity. Nor, in fact, can we claim they've never cheated; in fact, they cheated against a triple amputee. No, they've given us precious little reason to trust.

Is it unreasonable to think that Karl Rove, the man who spread rumors about an opponent being a pedofile, is capable of lying? When minorities are deliberately and systematicly discouraged from voting, is it unresonable to think the same people might just make up votes?

The Republican Party is currently flying high, and enjoying the success that they have achieved. But the time will come soon enough that they too will fall, and they will be in the same situation where the Democrats so recently found themselves; complacent, lazy, and out of touch. And they will likely not have a devicive enemy against which to leverage their base. Then their lack of honesty and integrety will come back to bite them in their (figurative) arses.

Or so I hope

Well... Let's see how this works.
