Interesting poster

Or so it seems. I can't see the whole thing very well. Pretty, though...

Rhodamine

Ah, mixing rhodamine WT. It comes in a 20% solution - we have 20 gallons of that. It's detectable at under 1 ppb - that's roughly 1.5 ml in an olympic swimming pool.

So I now have two gallon jugs; one has Rhodamine at 150,000 ppb, one at 800,000. My fingers are pink, my pants are pink. It's quite a pain.

New fun

Googlewhack. Find combinations of two words (real - they have to exist on dictionary.com) that return exactly one link on Google.

I thought I got one on my first try - "extemporaneous philanthropism" but philanthropism isn't in the dictionary. Had to work harder for "vermivorous squat"

Some people...

The Repubs are apparently taking to heart the lesson that the rules don't apply to them. Or more to the point, they're changing the rules to suit themselves:

The House GOP caucus is likely to vote today to end its rule requiring leaders to step down if indicted, thus shielding Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas) in the event that criminal charges are brought against him in a highly controversial case in Texas.

" Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.) told The Hill that the rule change, first reported by The Hill yesterday, “reflects a reality that [Earle’s investigation is] nothing but a political witch hunt bent on taking him to court. It’s the final phase that Democrats are coming to grips that Republicans are a permanent majority. There’s not any question it’ll pass.”"
